Volunteering at MakerLab
The Illinois MakerLab is privileged to have volunteers that help us with various aspects of lab operations, workshops, internal marketing, social media, and more. We always welcome interest from people who are looking to help out with our mission to help the entire Champaign-Urbana community to Learn, Make, and Share!
Additionally, we are happy to convert some of our volunteers into part-time employees based on our needs and the availability of positions. This includes working as a MakerLab Guru, who are the individuals in charge of working our open hours and running our 3D printing, scanning, and design workshops. For example, Will, Dash , Erin and Rachel started as volunteers with us in 2016 and started as employees in Spring 2017. Volunteers get to work on special projects, besides helping with daily operations and events. For summer we are open to accepting high school students as volunteers as well.
