About This Camp
Meet Reachy Mini — a desktop robot that sees, hears, talks, and reacts. Over five days, campers program all of it in Python. Reachy Mini has an HD camera, microphones, a speaker, expressive LED eyes, animated antennas, and a head that moves in six directions.
The real hook: Reachy Mini plugs directly into Hugging Face's ecosystem of over 1.7 million AI models. By mid-week, campers are loading real AI models onto a robot that recognizes faces, answers questions, and responds expressively. It ships as a kit, so assembly is part of the experience too.
With only 5 campers per session, everyone gets significant hands-on time with both the robot and the code.
What You'll Do Each Day
| Day | Theme | What Happens |
|---|---|---|
| Monday | Build Your Robot | Unbox the kit, assemble Reachy Mini as a team. Connect to a computer. Run your first behaviors — make it look around, blink, wiggle its antennas. Intro to Python. |
| Tuesday | Teach It to See | Access the camera feed in Python. Write code to detect faces, recognize colors, and track objects. Program visual reactions — Reachy looks at you when you wave. |
| Wednesday | Teach It to Listen & Talk | Hook up speech-to-text so Reachy understands what you say. Add text-to-speech so it talks back. Build a conversation loop: you talk, it listens, it responds. |
| Thursday | Give It a Brain | Connect a language model so Reachy can answer questions, tell jokes, or play a quiz game. Each camper designs a unique "personality" — a greeter, trivia host, storyteller, or translator. |
| Friday | Robot Personality Showcase | Each camper demos the personality they built. Reachy recognizes who's talking, responds in character, and reacts expressively. Vote on funniest, smartest, most creative. |
